wicklow stud andalusian
Davido MCWelcome to Wicklow Stud's Andalusian page. We are very proud of our Andalusians, who at present number six. We have scattered pictures of our Andalusians, past and present, throughout our website for you to enjoy, but on this page we will tell you a little about each individual. Andalusians are a magical breed. Beautiful, kind, intelligent, athletic with an awe-inspiring grace of movement, talented, versatile, and with a magnificence that makes them seem as though from a fantasy world, the Andalusian horse will steal your heart as it has stolen mine. Picture to the right is multi-national Champion and Leading Sire Davido MC. Few Andalusians will ever achieve the greatness of this stallion.

ValentiaValentia, ((4191 S/P) grey, mare, foaled February 9, 1998, by Apollo II out of Esfera by Serranito.

Valentia is Wicklow Stud Andalusians' foundation mare. As a yearling, she was Florida State Fair and Seventh Region Champion 2 and Under Andalusian Filly. As a 2-year-old, she was Reserve National Champion 2 and under Andalusian Filly. At three, she was National Champion Show Pleasure Driving Junior Horse, National Top Five in Western Pleasure and Hunt Seat, and won her first dressage class (never having shown in a dressage class before). As a 4-year-old, she was National Champion Saddle Seat Pleasure Junior Horse. Valentia is the dam of the 2007 Third Region Champion Andalusian Junior Mare, Chi Leanna, and of the awesome 2007 filly, Ariel de la Mar, both are by the magnificent multi-National Champion Santiago. Valentia is in foal to Amistad for 2008, due in mid-March.

Especial BA and LegolasEspecial BA, (5276 S/P) bay, mare, foal 4/1/2000,
by Despierto out of Furiosa A by Gitano A.

This beautiful, bay mare is by the multi-National Champion, Despierto, leading sire of champions, and out of the prolific mare Furiosa A, she, being the dam of three National Champions. Especial BA is continuing her family's tradition as a producer of champions with her 2006 Santiago colt, Santorino's recent win of the 2007 Third Region 2 and Under Andalusian Colt championship She is also the dam of Legolas, Santa Valentia and her 2007 filly, S'Amouracher.

Santa ValentiaSanta Valentina, (9093 S/P) grey, filly, foaled 2/14/2005,
by Santiago out of Especial BA by Despierto.

By the magnificent and prolific multi-National Champion sire, Santiago, this lovely filly is a welcome addition to Wicklow Stud Andalusian’s broodmare band. Until she is old enough to breed, she will be shown nationally by our trainer Gareth Selwood. With excellent conformation, beautiful movement and her great disposition we look forward to many exciting times with this great filly. Santa Valentina is a full sister the 2007 Third Region Champion 2 and Under Andalusian Colt, Santorino.

S'AMOURACHERS'Amouracher, grey, filly, foaled 2/14/07 by Santiago out of Especial BA by Despierto.

S'Amouracher, which means “to fall in love” in French, is an apt name for this beautiful Santiago filly born on Valentine’s Day. S’Amouracher is a half-sister to Legolas, and a full-sister to Santa Valentina and 2007 Third Region Champion 2 and Under Andalusian Colt, Santorino. Following in the footsteps of her older siblings, this attractive, very correct, beautiful moving, sweetheart of a filly is already showing the promise of a great future both in the show ring and as an addition to our broodmare band.

Ariel de la MarAriel de la Mar, grey, filly, foaled 3/19/2007, by Santiago out of Valentia by Apollo II.

This strikingly beautiful filly, full-sister to Chi Leanna, 2007 Third Region Champion Junior Mare, and whose sire, Santiago, and dam, Valentia, are both multi-National Champions, will soon be racking up championships of her own. Bold, beautiful, with brio a stallion would envy, great conformation, exceptional movement and a disposition to match, this young lady takes your breath away. She’ll take the judges’ breaths away as well.

TresorTrésor, bay, filly, foaled 2/26/2008, by Legado out of Especial BA by Despierto.

The name Trésor means Treasure in French, and this beautiful new addition to our equine family is indeed a treasure. Our first foal by the handsome, well-bred, black/bay stallion, Legado and out of the prolific producer, Especial BA, dam of Santorino, the 2007 Third Region Champion 2 and Under Andalusian Colt, and 2007 Reserve Champion United States Equestrian Federation Third Region Andalusian/Lusitano Halter Horse, Trésor has much to recommend her as both a future performance and halter horse, or just your very best friend. Especial BA's foals are known for their exquisite good looks, correct conformation, beautiful movement and outstanding dispositions. This filly will be a wonderful future addition to a broodmare band. Being by a black/bay stallion and out of a bay mare, who has produced both black and bay foals, should ensure Trésor's ability to produce the much sought after color in her foals.
